FAIRYTALE

Wednesday, July 26, 2017
When Forever 21 reached out to me and said they wanted to work together again, I obviously said YES! I mean, how can you not when they have pretty, shiny tops just like these?! I have to say that this has got to be one of my favorite shoots ever- the lightingggggg! Ahh! It just all flowed together perfectly. And I know what you're thinking- you would have worn this top UNDER the denim dress, but since that was too "basic" for me, this is what happened in the end. Ohhh and you can't ever go wrong with burgundy platforms.

GUYS. GUYS. GUYS. GUYSSSSS. Straight to the point avoiding any kind of talk about how long it's been. (Blah blah blah...) OKAY SO, LET ME DISCUSS THIS. Normally I'm not one to go for jumpsuits because of my height (calling all rompers please!), but this one is definitely a keeper! I obviously had to pair it with non-strappy heels and no necklace- shortens my frame ha! ANYWAY, off to Taco Tuesday, those margaritas and tamales and endless guac and chips are calling my name.

Oh, and how about these wall color variations? I have to admit that I have never been the biggest fan of the color pink (even through my childhood- I know, unbelievable), but this wall makes me happy, especially the contrast of it all.

MIDI LOVE

Tuesday, April 18, 2017

I am back from Coachella and it was once again, one for the books. From daily parties and then hitting the actual festival I am surprised I have survived and I am still kicking (and almost screaming because I had to come back to work today).
Anyway, you guys have seen me talk about this before, the fact that I obviously do not like wearing midi skirts, but you also cannot keep me away from ruffles, so I had to make this exception. Topshop, you (almost) never fail me.

EMBROIDERED

Photos by Henry Young
This is one look I pulled together for a friend's event one weekend and the next day shot it because I ended up loving it. The best part? It legit took me about 3 minutes to put together. I feel like I have this amazing talent of putting sh*t together and making it look nice. I get it from my mama.

COTTON CANDY DREAM

Long story short: on a run to Fashion Valley (for all of you non "San Diegans" as Ron Burgundy would say, that is a very fancy schmancy mall here in, you guessed it, San Diego), we stopped by Urban Outfitters mainly because Alex wanted to see what was on sale, but guess who ended up leaving with something? Obviously. But this is totally his fault, he showed it to me! And as a true San Diegan I used up my local resources (aka Mother Nature and Belmont Park) to take this cool thing for a spin and switch things up a bit for prom/grad season, since, as we locals know that it was not a full-on true "prom experience" without heading to the beach for photos before dinner. True story. Hashtag nostalgia, hashtag all the feels.

FROM DAY TO NIGHT

Thursday, March 30, 2017
I feel like I have become very used to writing every 2-3 weeks now, which I could say is a little bit of progress (haha). It's been a busy few past days with Coachella coming up soon, shoots, some random adventures, and planning my next trip (not sure where to yet but I am DYING to go to Cuba!).
Anyway, this look has been one that I have been dying to show you, particularly because I am obsessed with how I mixed in the different textures and the juxtaposition between a heavy suede jacket and lightweight dress, perfect for transitioning from day to night. Oh, and the combination of colors is really "spring-ey" FORREAALSSSS. I mean, I am even wearing pink-colored Ray Bans for crying out loud.

I have to confess that I began collecting fashion magazines since I was very little, I used to either beg my mom for them or just secretly sneak them onto the cash register at the moment she was not looking and by the time we got home it was too late. The point is that I have always admired the editorials, the photography of the models in amazing places wearing amazing pieces of clothing. My obsession clearly grew into my teenage years when I used to rip up the magazines and just pin every single sheet onto my walls, which is how I became inspired everyday. At times I feel that I am such a creative person, but with not enough time to do everything I want, so I literally have to just pour my heart and energy into this blog and try to be more expressive with my thoughts in this way.

One of the best times of the year is definitely spring, a season known for starting over in a way and gearing up for some cool new looks for the new year. I know florals are not really "groundbreaking" (yes, Miranda Priestly, totally quoted you there), but to me this is something new because I don't really wear patterns or flowy dresses like this often. But I feel that this has been one of the coolest shoots ever, a fantasy in a way, with the long dress, the perfect lighting, my crazy hair, and having the wind help me out a bit here and there.

CONOCE EL LADO ECO-FRIENDLY DE LA MODA CON RENOVARE, PARTE 2

Wednesday, February 15, 2017
(If you have not read my last post, then I suggest that you do it HERE before you go on any further!)*
At first glance you might think that the fashion industry is kind of like me, cold-hearted and without feelings (okay okay, a bit dramatic much) and that it is all about runways and skinny models with expensive taste, but what you might know is that every season there seems to be even more eco-friendly brands and/or designers who are ready to leave their imprint on this world. A very big and fundamental part of this movement involves us as consumers, who can help make that difference possible by supporting those brands who take the topic of "sustainability" seriously. As previously mentioned, Renovare is (in my own opinion) one of the next biggest hits to set the bar high in terms of sustainable fashion, more specifically with their Mexican-made and sourced shoes

With this said, here are some little helpful and cool tips I will share with you so that you too can have a more eco-friendly wardrobe and put in a little more effort into making this planet a prettier (always questioned if that was really an actual word) place:
  • Ask yourself "where are my clothing and shoes coming from?"
I think this step is crucial in figuring out the complete process of how your items are made, not to mention interesting, from beginning to what happens to something after you get rid of it. You will also be able to distinguish the difference between organic, recyclable, and materials free from hazardous materials so you can be aware of the impact you are causing the environment around you.
  • Check out what you already have and take care of your things.
Nothing is more ecological than what you already have because it's process it basically "done", all you ever do to it now is wash it after a use. Learn how to style an item different ways and you're set! Also, make sure that you don't throw away that ripped shirt because even a simple DIY can totally help bring it back to life!
  • Quality over quantity.
This is not only about buying what is considered "green", but it also helps tremendously when you only shop for what you truly need. You can always find out where their items are being made and if they are committed to being more environmentally conscious usually by clicking in the company information on their website.
  • Shop local.
This one is key because not only are you supporting local talent, but also probably a chain of people who are involved in the process. You will contribute to the flow of the economy and help diminish carbon footprint overall.

Again, read about Renovare's philosophy and how they work by clicking here.
