If you're anything like me and you live in Southern California, chances are you're also dying for it to get colder outside for you to finally bust out your faux fur and boots (in my case, my preference are platform ankle booties!). But oh no, Mother Nature is definitely hardly ever in our corner, so we unfortunately won't be seeing any rain until late December. That's the bad news. The good news? The decision to purchase was too easy, I mean, would you look at the snake print?! And don't even get me started on the chunky platform heel! Ugh, could you die?! (Can't think of the actual movie I heard this line from at this precise moment, but regardless.) Steve Madden ALWAYS has a way with being on-point with trends, and has never let me or my early 2000's teenage self down.
Now, after getting my hands on these, I knew I had a bit of a mission to put together a look that was as casual, but kind of dressed up for many different occasions. It of course had to fit my sort of laid-back California girl style, so it only took me 3 minutes to figure it out in my head before trotting over to my closet and putting on a pair of black denim shorts and this cool, oversized sweater. Ta da! I looked like the perfect walking definition of this current San Diego "fall" weather. Now, time to test these bad boys, so I asked Alex if he wanted to hop on over (ok, we drove) to Sunset Cliffs, which is exactly what it sounds like- a tourist-y trap where us natives love to go and watch the most stunning sunsets any day of the year. For some reason though, they are pretty much impeccable towards the end of the year, so he agreed. What better way to figure out if these babies were going to survive in my wardrobe?
We get there, and guess what? After sort of illegally crossing the street, I realized, one- they were already perfect enough to run in (those honking drivers didn't know who they were dealing with! I'M A PRO!), and two- they're the most comfortable things on planet Earth. Sure, a bit slippery, but COME ON! I was on very grainy and scary terrain! If they overcame this, they could overcome anything! That was it. It was over. I had to take some photos for proof, and now passing along the wealth of knowledge- after being your test bunny- to you.
